My 12year old is still quite spry but occasionally misses the jump from the floor to the couch. Decided a little help was in order before a trip to the vet was required. I have several old pop crates that I have been wanting to do something with.
This is quick and easy. Besides the Pepsi crate, I picked up some foam, batting, and scrap material from the craft store. The foam was the most expensive item. I choose a firm piece that was just enough for the project. An old cushion would be a great reuse for this.
I cut a scrap piece of plywood to fit the bottom. Cut foam to size. Added batting to get the height I wanted. Cut fabric to wrap around the foam and reach the back of the plywood with a few inches to spare. Then staple the fabric to the bottom of the plywood.
I ordered the legs off Amazon. It was cheaper and with a lot more options.
Flip it over and attach hardware to bottom of crate. Screw in the legs.I did pre-drill for the screws. Didn’t want the crate wood to split.
When choosing a crate pick a sturdy one that isn’t splintering.
